SGPM - Small Grant Program for Mozambique
SGPM grants support micro-projects in areas critical for communities in Mozambique: sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS, gender and women’s empowerment, economic empowerment, and education.
The SGPM promotes innovative social entrepreneurship projects that aim to change the lives of beneficiaries through organizations rural areas that currently lack the capacity or organizational structure to apply for grants through the traditional granting programs and systems in Mozambique. The concept of the SGPM was developed to complement traditional granting systems, which are mainly designed to assist large established organizations, by reaching out to local communities, forming dynamic capacity building partnerships with them and providing resources for the implementation of small community programs.
Based on LMF’s experience, in order for small community organizations and groups in Mozambique to engage effectively in community development programs, responsiveness to their needs is essential. The LMF works with grantee partners to improve their skills, strategies and resources in a flexible, coherent and cost effective manner. SGPM is currently in its initial implementation stage in Manica province.
