Zambezia
Zambezia is the largest province in terms of population size and the second in terms of surface area, it is also one of the provinces with the poorest population. It has an estimated population of 3,880,184 people, spread over an area of more than 100,000 km2.
The districts that make up the province are: Alto Molocue, Chinde, Gilé, Gurué, Ile, Inhassunge, Lugela, Maganja da Costa, Milange, Mocuba, Mopeia, Morrumbala, Namacurra, Namarroi, Nicoadala and Pebane.
An incredible estimate indicates that about 75% of the children in the province live in a situation of absolute poverty. This estimate contradicts the prevalence of the lowest unemployment rate of the country, at 11%. With a province rich in agriculture, access to the sea and abundant timber, it seems that the results of the exploitation of these natural resources have not yet benefited the people.
So far, the presence of the Foundation in this province confines itself to the District of Gurué with its Sport Gives Life program.
